Sibling Treats: The Story Behind Sisterbility

Celebrating difference of abilities one treat, one story at a time.
CONNECT | BAKE | SHARE

Sibling Treats began in 2015 as a simple, sweet way for two sisters, Johanna and Nellie Niles to spend time together. Neither of us were master bakers, but we had fun trying. It started with Christmas sugar cookies, followed by cupcakes and brownies, and eventually led to filling orders for family, friends, potlucks, and even Nellie’s literacy program.

As we waited (and waited) on a day program list, we started to wonder, what if this could be more than just a hobby? That question lit a fire in Nellie. The moment we started dreaming of entrepreneurship, she made it clear: she was the boss, and I was the assistant.

Over time, Sibling Treats became more than a small baking project. It became a space for Nellie to express herself, build confidence, connect with others, and share her joy through something she loved. We discovered that baking brought us closer not without the occasional sibling disagreement of course, but always with laughter, creativity, and care.

Now, we’re excited to see Sibling Treats grow into something new: the Sisterbility Podcast. A space where siblings like us can connect, bake, and share stories from across communities and cultures all while centering disability, family, and joy.

Sibling Treats is where it all began. Sisterbility is where it continues.
